I’m sure you know how important creating the perfect skincare routine for your face is but it isn’t the only routine you should be doing! It’s understandable - after all your face is a priority and everybody sees it, but body care is a must, too. It’s time to transform your body into a glowy smooth texture, just like your face! If your body care routine currently consists of washing up with a standard shower gel and sparingly applying a layer of lotion on, then it’s about time you created the ultimate skin care routine for your body. Not sure how? Not to worry, we’ve created an easy step by step routine that will ensure your body is soft, smooth and 100% hydrated!

Step 1: Cleanse

If you’re already following a regular skin care routine for your face then you’ll probably know the full importance of ensuring that you wash your face day and night! Whether you’re dealing with your hands, face or even your legs, the best way to kick things off is by starting off completely clean. This means using a cleanser meant specifically for washing your body, we recommend opting for a gentle body wash that won’t irritate or dry out your precious skin. Pair this with your favourite cleansing tool - washcloth, loofah, or even just your hands, then make sure to rinse off before moving on.

Step 2: Exfoliate

Sometimes you might find it quite tricky exfoliating your face - fear of irritation, too much scrubbing or even just a bit messy! Thankfully, the skin on your body is better suited to exfoliation. Because your body is typically tougher than your face, you don’t have to be quite so careful about over scrubbing.

Be sure to exfoliate two or three times a week, exfoliate your body by adding your favourite scrub into your shower routine and gently massaging the scrub into your skin. Don’t forget to pay extra attention to those dryer patches e.g. knees, elbows and heels.

Step 3: Shave

If shaving is a part of your cleansing routine, then start by spending a little time in the shower - this will ensure that the water softens your skin ready for the application of your razor. Once you think it’s time to reach for the razor, go ahead and take it slow, applying shaving cream to your skin and carefully moving the razor with the grain instead of going against it.

Step 4: Hydration

Now it’s time for you to glow! While your skin is still wet from your previous shower steps, it’s an ideal time to hydrate your skin. Applying moisturiser to your body whilst still wet helps to fully lock in the moisture. Smooth your preferred lotion/cream over your body from neck to your toes, letting it absorb before putting your clothes on.

Step 5: Tan

This step is 100% optional - but if you’re one to delve into the world of tan then doing it after your body care routine will work wonders. If you want your body to be bronzed, smooth on your favourite tanning product that will help give your skin a gorgeous glow over time. Try doing this step 2-3 times a week, being sure to use sparingly around joints, to achieve an even streak-free tan.

We recommend trying out the Garnier Natural Bronzer Self Tan Mist For Body tan. This quick drying body self-tan mist is formulated with a unique blend of plant origin tanning actives and enriched with nourishing apricot oil, resulting in a natural looking, all year round golden glow with no orangey tones. The spray format is easy to use with 360° application that allows you to reach those tricky-to-tan areas like the feet, hands and back. The ultra-fine mist gives an even coverage that is streak-free. No need to rub in just re-apply as desired to achieve a deeper tan glow!
