Amsterdam city breaks have become the go-to weekend getaway, and for good reason. This city is packed with culture, from bike rides through the tulip filled streets, to museums of every kind. Here are the top 5 things to experience in Amsterdam:

1. Visit Bloemenmarkt - The world's only floating flower market, and the perfect place to pick up some Dutch souvenirs (clogs galore) or a wooden tulip if you don't fancy the chances of trying to get the real flower back home 2. Anne Frank House - Is a visit to Amsterdam complete without visiting this iconic historical site? Arguably not. This isn't your typical museum, however, being the actual house in which the Frank family were in hiding for over two years, and where Ann Frank's famous diary was written. Remember to buy a ticket before you go as they're not currently sold on the door. 3. Foodhallen - Located in the cultural complex, De Hallen, Foodhallen is a chic indoor food market, serving up your typical Dutch street food and beverages 4. Fancy a shopping trip? Head down to Kalverstraat, Amsterdam's busiest shopping street 5. Local events - Amsterdam is a vibrant city with loads going on, so make sure you do your research to find out what events will be on whilst you're there.

New York

Ah, the city that never sleeps. If you want to go on a city break, New York is the ultimate destination. The city will leave you awestruck with enough culture, food and lights to brighten up even the cloudiest of days. These are the top 5 things to experience if you do decide to cross the Atlantic:

1. Grand Central Station - This one (undoubtedly enormous) building alone is packed full of history and culture. Over 750,000 people travel through the station every day. It's also littered with hidden passageways and secret facts. Try to spot the dark patch on the ceiling (hint: next to the Cancer crab claw) left as an indication of how dirty the ceiling was before they cleaned it in 1998. 2. Landmarks - Of course, go visit the Statue of Liberty and Central Park, grabbing a bagel on the way. If you are a big Disney fan, try and find the Alice and Wonderland statue located East Side at 75th Street. 3. Museums - Make sure you swing by one of New York's incredible museums. The MET is a must-see if not for the iconic Gossip Girl steps alone.. The roof garden there provides a stunning view of the city, so if it's a clear day it's definitely worth a visit. 4. Eat everything - When it comes to food, New York has it all. From bagels and donuts to pizza in Little Italy. Eat until you can't eat anymore. (And then eat a little bit more). 5. Hit the shops - There is no better city to go shopping in than New York. For the arty shops head to the High Line. The views are incredible and independent shops can be found in the Chelsea Market just below. If arty isn't your style, there is of course Times Square, all of Soho, Bloomingdales - the list goes on.
