Eugene Rimmel was born in France in 1820, but moved to London as a child when his father, a perfumer, took a job managing a perfumery on Bond Street. Eugene worked as an apprentice to his father, and eventually opened his own perfumery in 1934, named the House of Rimmel. Under the guidance of his father, Eugene earned himself a reputation as an extremely talented perfumer and cosmetics innovator, and he is now seen as a vanguard in the beauty industry. His most famous invention was the non toxic mascara, which was such a success that the given word for mascara in several languages is now rimmel. Rimmel remains a giant in the beauty and cosmetics industry, with a whole host of different make up and beauty products now on offer here at Fragrance Direct.
