Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren was born in the Bronx area of New York City in 1939, and fuelled his love for fashion throughout his childhood, gaining a reputation in high school for selling his own range of ties to fellow students. He dropped out of business school and served in the United States Army, before opening his own necktie store with the backing of a Manhattan clothing manufacturer in 1967. Ralph Lauren has since grown into a billion dollar business, with over 35 boutiques across America. The first Ralph Lauren fragrances, Polo and Lauren, were launched in 1978, and were followed in later years by Polo Black, Romance, Explorer and Notorious.
