In 1938 a young chemistry student called Prof Franz Greiter caught severe sunburn whilst climbing Piz Buin a mountain on the Swiss-Austrian border, back at his parents house he formulated a product to protect the skin against the sun's adverse affects. This later became the product better known as 'Piz Buin'. In 1962 the introduction of the SPF happened and in 1968 Piz Buin introduced suncreens with UVA and UVB broad spectrum filters. Piz Buin now have a range of both sunscreens, self tanners and gradual self tanners.
