Rene Lacoste was born in France in 1904, and went on to become a respected tennis player, and winning seven Grand Slams and being known as one of the Four Musketeers who dominated the game throughout the 1920s and 1930s. He was known as the Crocodile, due to his tenacity on the tennis court. In 1933 he joined forces with Andre Gillier, president of the largest knitwear brand in France at the time, to create La Chemise Lacoste, producing the tennis whites Rene wore on the court. The company soon expanded into producing a whole host of sports performance clothing, such as golf, and today Lacoste is one of the most famous fashion brands in the world, due in part to its instantly recognisable crocodile logo. The Lacoste brand now incorporates a range of fragrances and aftershaves, including Lacoste Pour Homme Eau de Toilette, Essential, Challenge, Lacoste Red, Joy of Pink, Touch of Pink and Love of Pink perfumes.
