Jennifer Lopez was born in the Bronx area of New York City in 1969, and began taking singing and dancing lessons from the age of five. Her parents encouraged her and her siblings to put on performances at home in order to keep them out of trouble. Lopez gained her first notable role as a Fly Girl dancer on the 1991 TV show In Living Colour, and then worked as a backing dancer for Janet Jackson. She then moved into acting, starring in a number of Hollywood films, before launching a music career. Lopez is considered as a true all rounded with her various projects, which was further highlighted with the launch of her fragrances and toiletries.
