Roy Halston Frowick opened his first clothing shop, the Boulevard Salon, on North Michigan Avenue in Chicago in 1957. Later in the same year, he moved to New York City, and began retailing under the sole use of his middle name, Halston. Originally working as a designer for Dache and Bergdorf Goodman, he shot to national fame after he designed the “pillbox hat” that Jackie Kennedy wore to her husband’s presidential inauguration in 1961. He soon moved into fragrances, and the signature Halston perfume has become the second biggest selling perfume of all time. The Halston brand now retails a number of accompanying body products, including body washes and shower gels.
