In 1847, Louis-Francois Cartier created Cartier the brand. The brand quickly obtained a glowing reputation and attracted a number of royal customers. In 1904, Cartier patented a wristwatch, for a Brazilian aviator, who had complained about the impracticality of pocket watches whilst flying. This was the first men’s wristwatch, and is still produced by Cartier today. Cartier started producing fragrances in 1981, Santos and has since been joined by Pasha, Must de Cartier, Declaration, Roadster and Delices de Cartier.
