Germaine Emilie Krebs, aka “Madame Gres”, launched her haute couture fashion house Gres in Paris in 1942. She produced high-end fashion products for a number of fashionable clients, including the Duchess of Windsor and Jackie Kennedy. Although the fashion house no longer in production, the associated fragrance line, Parfums Gres is still producing new scents. The first (and most famous) fragrance to be released under the Parfums Gres line was Cabochard, launched in 1959. The Parfums Gres fragrance line has since been expanded, and now includes Cabotine, Folie Douce, Cabaret, Caline and Caline Night.
