Born Florence Nightingale Graham in 1878, Elizabeth Arden the brand was created in New York in 1912. Until Elizabeth Arden most people who wore makeup were stage performers, she introduced the "Total Look" where lips, cheeks and fingernails all matched in colour. During WWII the company created a lip colour named Montezuma Red which matched the red on women soldiers uniforms. Jackie Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe and Queen Elizabeth II all wore Elizabeth Ardern cosmetics during the 1930's - 1960's. The signature fragrance is Red Door named after the day spas but Elizabeth Arden also own the licenses to the following fragrance brands, Britney Spears, Elizabeth Taylor and Mariah Carey to name but a few.
